Faction Description: The Fairbrandt Academy is the Sixfold’s City’s foremost institution of learning, at least outside of the spires. Dedicated simply to educating the people of the City and improving humankind’s knowledge, the Academy has a diverse staff and student base, providing education from basic reading and writing to research on the cutting edge of mathematics, natural philosophy, and many more subjects. There are many departments in the Academy, but currently the department with the most influence over the Academy – and the most-noticed by the public – is the Department of Living Archaeology.
It is still within living memory that the first walking fossil was discovered beneath the city – a living, breathing creature, perfectly buried in the ground but, once unearthed, as lively and healthy as you or I. Over time, more and more of these dinosaurs, reptiles, and strange mammals were unearthed as noted Fairbrandt scholar Dr. Alexanderina van Valzak broke away from the Department of Geology to begin the Department of Living Archaeology. Raising funds for their activities through public shows of their finds, the Department of Living Archaeology founded the Van Valzak Memorial Living Museum, a museum-slash-zoo where the walking fossils are held, cared for, and studied and put their further wealth towards more refined delving and expanding their influence within the Academy.
Faction Members: The Fairbrandt Academy takes in students from infancy to old age, rich and poor alike, and most all of them end up amongst the most brilliant in their fields. A player character might be a particularly promising student or a member of staff, either in the Department of Living Archaeology or in one of the many others losing out on funding to the Living Archaeologists.
